About the Club

The Big Sky Tracking Dog Club of Montana was established in 1998.  We are a not for profit organization and our primary goal is to bring the joy of tracking to Montana. Our mission statement includes the following objectives:
  • Disseminate knowledge regarding tracking, scent work, obedience, rally, agility and other AKC companion and/or performance events
  • Conduct classes, seminars and/or workshops for the training of dogs and handlers
  • Encourage the training of judges
  • Hold and support all events for which the club is eligible under the Rules and Regulations of The American Kennel Club including but not limited to tracking, scent work, obedience, rally and agility
  • Promote cooperation and good sportsmanship among its members in the training and exhibition of dogs
  • Promote the training of purebred dogs
We are a statewide club and hold events all across Montana. We became AKC sanctioned in 2001 and are now able to hold AKC TD,TDX, TDU, and VST tracking tests, Scent Work and Agility trials. We welcome anyone who has an interest to join us.  Whether your goal is to become certified in SAR; to train your dog for a Champion Tracker Title; or to simply enjoy a fun activity with your canine companion.
